Three-Paragraph Essay Example: Is the Death Penalty Effective?

Students usually begin their school and college years with a three-paragraph essay. It has the simplest structure because it includes only one paragraph of an introduction, one paragraph of a body, and one paragraph of a conclusion. The first paragraph introduces a thesis statement and a hook. A student’s job is to attract a reader’s attention by a striking quote or fact. It is essential to select a great topic that can intrigue the target audience. The second part belongs to the body. There, a person supports the provided statement with facts and shreds of evidence to convince the target reader of the chosen viewpoint. The last part belongs to a conclusion. Its task is to restate the thesis statement and challenge the reader. The best option is to ask a controversial question or provide a problem that readers would like to solve.

Learners experiment with different essay types such as persuasive, narrative, descriptive, and argumentative in PDF and Word formats. Depending on the demanded essay type, a person should start and finish the paper accordingly. The biggest advantage of this paper is its simple structure. The biggest disadvantage of an essay with only three paragraphs is its limited word count. It is impossible to write too long paragraphs because they will confuse the readers. People worldwide can argue about many points, especially about things that consider life and death, justice and injustice. Heinrich Heine once said, “We should forgive our enemies, but not before they are hanged.” 60% of Americans are for capital punishments for people who have murdered others. They regard it as a justification for what criminals have done or, as one will say, eye for an eye. There are many arguments that can be introduced to support and reject this saying. On the one hand, capital punishment is the most effective tool in crime control. On the other hand, many innocent individuals were punished because the law was not a perfect judging tool. So, is the death penalty effective?

For many years, people have been punished differently. They were hanged, poisoned, and killed with the help of electric chairs, firing squads, and gas chambers. Sometimes, execution organs made punishments spectacular to give the audience a clear example of what would happen to them if they broke the law. Over fifty-three countries still sentence people to death. Even though the government of the United States has abolished death sentences, Americans can face death in prisons being a criminal in a country that still performs such punishments. However, it is even hard to name all cases of horrible deaths that happened by a mistake in this example of 3-paragraph paper. Besides, the ACLU proves that violence gives birth to violence. It is a waste of money provided by taxpayers. Though it is costly to keep a prisoner, who can escape or leave the prison thanks to good behavior, local authorities can make criminals do corrective services.

Moreover, those who support racism are against death sentences for white people and appreciate the same punishment for colored people. Such intolerance kills democracy and elementary human rights. The other examples of unjustified punishments are cases when people plead guilty for things they have not done. It is not a secret that people are often tortured by the police, who want to end up with the criminal case and imprison someone to shut up the society that needs someone to blame. Besides, many people agree that it is not fair to kill criminals who deserve severe punishments till the end of their lives. It is better to imprison them in conditions that are physically and psychologically hard to stand. They will not be willing to live such a life, but they will have to just like the family whose relative was killed. Carolyn Hoyle from the University of Oxford states that the number of crimes dropped in countries where capital punishment had been abolished. The USA spent over $250,000 on sentencing a single person to death. Isn’t it better to make guilty people work in prisons and pay taxes like anyone else?

So, one can conclude that the effectiveness of the death penalty is doubtful. First off, it deprives people of their rights. Secondly, only innocent judges can decide who must live or die. Have you ever met holy people who have never lied, committed crimes, and done something that was against their favor? It is a well-known fact that many judges and lawyers lie because of public pressure or when the guilty person is a son of high-ranking officials. Corruption and lie cannot co-exist with capital punishment because there is a high risk to lose justice forever. “Just Mercy” and “When they see us” are sample movies that prove how the justice system can go wrong. People can not judge people.
