The world is a very big place with a population of 6,234,250,234 people that is always growing. The world and its important resources are being destroyed by populations growing in such small areas.
Many of these small areas have many problems of their own because of overpopulation, such as hunger and many poor people.
China is the largest country in the world, with a population of 1, 284,304,705 people, and ranked the third largest in size in the world. In the year 2050, the population of China will be about 1,322,435,000. The population in china is growing by about 87% a year. China is controlling the population by the one-child policy. The one-child policy was created in 1979 to help control the growing population of China. According to the one-child policy, families are only allowed to have one child, but if that child can’t work, the family can adopt another. In addition, many of the families are killing their newborn babies if they are girls because in China, when girls are born, nothing is done, but when a boy is born, there is a huge celebration.
The population of the U.S. is 280,562,489 people, and by the year 2050, the population will almost be doubled and reach the number of 394,241,000. Each year, the population increases by 89%. In the U.S., there is nothing being done to control the fast-growing population. Although there are many people in some states, there are still many individuals that have very few due to the climate, which is usually too hot or too cold.
At the same time, 1,045,845,226 people live in India. The population of the country grows at 1.15%, and in the year 2050, there will be about 1,706,951,724 people there. In the 1970s, India started to educate people about birth control. They put up posters, and what is more, the government wanted men and women to be sterilized. By teaching people in India about birth control, the authorities make sure that the next generations will be more aware of overpopulation.
In 2019, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the leader of the world’s biggest democracy, called the local governments to implement the range of policies in order to control the growth rate of population and prevent the “reckless populations explosion.”
As for Europe, the total population is about 728,543,592. In case the population continues to grow at about 1%, in 2050, the population will be about 642,447,530. Although Europe consists of many countries, it is hard to make all of the nations out there to do anything to help control overpopulation.
Africa has a total population of 803,310,514. In the year 2050, the population will be about 1,786,117,607. The population growth rate is about 2.6%. Even though the population is still growing, there are also high rates of diseases and lack of food that together serve as the kind of population control.
There are many ways that overpopulation destroys the earth. One of such ways is through pollution. It has been killing the environment since power has been producing power to work every day and provide things for the growing populations. Besides, there have also been some major accidents at the power plants that made many people move to different areas. This, in turn, made those regions even more populated.
In addition, overpopulation destroys forests and other natural resources. In South America, many rain forests contain natural cures for some illnesses that we have no cures at all. Plus, these forests are responsible for providing 20% of the oxygen that we breathe in. However, farmers in South America are cutting down the trees for the top layer of soil. Deforestation causes the problem that researchers call “the greenhouse gas problem.” It is when cutting down trees leads to a reduced ability to capture CO2. What is more, deforestation also stands behind the loss of extinctions and habitat. As it’s been already mentioned above, agriculture is also responsible for nearly 80% of world deforestation. In addition to that, 5% is attributed to firewood collection, 14% to logging, and some other causes.
While it seems like we do have plenty of water on earth, this vital thing is very much a scarce reserve. Only 2,5% of all the resources that we have are fresh water. And what is more important, only a small part of it is unpolluted and safe drinking water.
One of the consequences of overpopulation has been attributed to intense stress on supplies of fresh water. According to the most recent data, today’s demand for fresh drinking water is exceeding the supply of safe water available at the moment. Nearly 15% of the planet’s population lives in the so-called regions that are “water stressed.” According to one report, this amount is going to reach 50% by 2030. As revealed by the other evidence, 2/3 of the planet’s population will face water shortages by the year 2025. This amount is attributed to quick population growth. More importantly, the growth of the population is the fastest in the regions where water is already in high demand. These areas include Oceania, Central, Southwest, and Southeast Asia.
The human population increase is related to all of these pressures. More people means we need more food, more wood products, and more firewood.
There are many ways to control the population of the world. One of such is to have a certain amount of people in a household or family, just like they have according to China’s one-child policy.
In conclusion, as the population of the world grows, overpopulation will continue to slowly destroy the earth. There are many issues that we have to battle. Clearly, the world’s initiatives like better managing of water resources and using solar energy sources will help us ease the impact and consequences of the planet’s population growth. It is only vital that people understand these issues and exert every effort in order to support the policies that will eventually make a visible difference.
